G i s b e r t   S t a c h

geboren in Freiburg/Breisgau 1963  / Ausbildung zum Silberschmied an der Staatlichen Berufsfachschule für Glas und Schmuck, Kaufbeuren-Neugablonz 1984-87 /  Studium an der Fachhochschule für Kunst und Design, Köln, bei Prof. Peter Skubic, 1988-90 und an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste, München, bei Prof. Otto Künzli, 1991-96, Diplom 1996 / Lebt und arbeitet in Gräfelfing und München

Bio / Profile

Gisbert Stach studied at the Staatliche Berufsfachschule fuer Glas und Schmuck (State College for Glass and Jewellery) in Kaufbeuren-Neugablonz in Germany. After that, he studied sculpting and jewellery at the Fachhochschule fuer Kunst und Design (Cologne University of Applied Sciences) in Cologne as well as at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he finished his studies with a diploma in 1996. He lives and works in Munich, where he has his own studio. His pieces of art are exhibited in international galleries and renowned museums such as the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and are part of public collections. Gisbert Stach’s works of art display a great variety ranging from contemporary author’s jewellery and experimental silverware to performances, sculptures and video art. His videos have been shown at international film festivals. In 2006, Gisbert Stach won the first prize of the 15th International Silverart Competition of the Gallery of Art in Legnica in Poland, as well as the Amberif Design Award in Danzig in 2011.
Gisbert Stach is a jury member at competitions and gives lectures at international jewellery symposiums. In topic-related workshops up to now, he has taught students at art colleges and cultural institutions in Antwerp, Bethlehem, Tel Aviv, Dubai and Beirut.
